Our team is made up of former U.S. college athletes who bring first-hand experience from both the European and American tennis systems.
Our Team
Lars Schmassmann
Lars is from Basel, Switzerland, where he's currently ranked N4. He played three years of NCAA Division 1 tennis at Seattle University and later played No. 1 singles for nationally ranked George Fox University, where he earned All-American honors and was named Northwest Conference Player of the Year in 2025.

HALA SPORTS was founded by Lars & Hannah in the beginning of 2026. Having competed at multiple NCAA levels, our team understands the realities of recruiting, college life, and the balance between academics and high-performance sport.
Based in Basel, Switzerland, and connected to the U.S. college tennis network, we work closely with players and families to provide honest guidance, clear structure, and realistic pathways toward college tennis opportunities.
Hannah Gianan
Hannah is a former NCAA Division 1 women's college tennis player, now living in Basel, Switzerland. Hannah's experience growing up in a college tennis focused tennis academy allowed her to learn the ins and outs of the US college tennis scene from a young age - from the importance of player visibility to potential coaches to the complexity of the college recruitment process.
